Bhool Chuk Maaf Movie Review: Bhool Chuk Maaf had the potential to be a fun sci-fi rom-com, but ends up stuck in a confused loop of bad jokes, lazy writing, and forced social messaging. Even with Raj kumar Rao and Mavika Gabbi, the film feels like three movies stitched into one and none of them work.
Guru Log Bhool Chuk Maaf is another romantic comedy movie of Raj kumar Rao and Mavika Gabbi. Which has a new twist of science fiction. Especially in Indian films, where without spoiling, in the film, just a day before the brother’s wedding, his day gets stuck in a loop.
On his haldi day, where they have haldi every day. And the wedding day never comes. And now to fix that problem, they have to fix a mistake.
Which they should never do in the first place. And the biggest thing in the story is that there is a very big surprise in this story. The end, I would say, is the biggest turning point of this entire story.
The end is not given to us at all in the beginning. We get to see it in the second half of the story after the interval. Oh, this is the story of the story and that important reveal happens very late, if I may say so.
Because it is an important plot, it was necessary for them to set up something from the beginning. They could have teased us a little in the beginning, but they did not consider it necessary. They thought that we would have done whatever we wanted in the beginning.
And in the end, we will reveal our main story and by that time, I would say, it becomes quite late. Where they are playing their game right from the beginning. Some comedy is going on.
Which is not impressive at all. Where Rajkumar Rao’s template, like wrong-com movies, he also has a standard. He has to follow a check box in it.
That he will be a completely useless and worthless boy. Who will be very hopelessly diligent and will talk about love very quickly. He has a unique sketch of presenting his characters in this way, as we have seen him in Street.
And after doing all that tier two small town nonsense, he will realize that oh shit yaar, life does not run just by becoming Peplum Final Boss.
On this, I would say about the movie that the movie is like that, it is okay in this type of romcom, where we have specially seen some time-related romcom movies like Groundhog Day Palm Springs and Even About Time.
And among them, this is the least competent time loop romantic comedy movie. Now mad, I did not expect at all that such a high concept drama would be presented in such a lame way, the feel of Banaras, so I would say that he has captured it a little bit right.
But the movie is not funny at all. Its plot is blindly predictable! And lazy.! I was sitting to listen to the songs. But still none of them leave any kind of impact and the social message in the end deviates the entire theme and the story.
That I had come to watch a romantic comedy. And the majority of the section of the movie is going on like that. And by the end, a new plot is introduced here.
That okay now there will be its setup and then there will be a conflict between them and then there will be a role in the end and on that I will say that then why do you call it a romantic comedy, why don’t you make it a comedy with a social issue.
Where poor Vamika is lying singing Babu Babu. Let’s play a little rom com by applying mehendi on her hands. But no, we had come to give a strong message of this society, even Jethalal’s father could have done such a simple thing, this was the story of one episode of Taarak Mehta. This is how it was, after watching the trailer of Bhool Chul Maaf, tell us in the comments how you feel. Read More
Such an interesting take on the film! I love how you’ve dissected the plot and the character dynamics, especially Rajkumar Rao’s template. The time-loop concept in Indian cinema is refreshing, but I wonder if it was executed as well as it could have been. The late reveal of the main story seems like a bold choice—do you think it worked, or did it leave the audience feeling disconnected? Also, the comedy not being impressive is a bit disappointing, especially with such a talented cast. Do you think the film could have benefited from a stronger comedic script? And that ending twist—was it worth the wait, or did it feel rushed? I’d love to hear more of your thoughts on how this compares to other time-loop romcoms like *Groundhog Day* or *Palm Springs*.
